Not us.  We will schedule a video call so we can meet each other, and spend a little time talking about what’s important to to you about the music, and also learn about some musical moments that mean something to you so we can incorporate them into the evening and give you an even more special day.

We will discuss the schedule, the venue, the first dance and the big finish at the end of the night!  We want to understand the make up of your guest list (to help with song choices), whether there are any guests that would love a specific song, and we’ll ask you for input on our set list so you get the best performance possible!

There’s no tough sell – we want to make sure you’re comfortable with us and confident you’re going to get the party of your dreams!  It all starts with a call.

•  Are there any songs from the hen party/stag do that would get everyone on the dance floor so we can play them and or DJ them, bringing back memories of those special events and making new ones on the dance floor?
• Are there any requests for the DJ, and any party animals with dance moves we can encourage onto the dance floor so more magic is created?
• Are there any Father/Daughter or Mother/Son dances alongside the First Dance for incredibly intimate and special memories?
• Are there any musicians amongst your guests who would like to join the band for a song that would make for a fun surprise addition?
• Do you require a microphone from us for the speeches, and is it likely that the speeches will overrun?  How many speeches are planned?

We want to understand the meaning of the special songs you choose so we can musically craft them into the best performance possible for you.  We want to create magic for you.

Sound limiters are primarily there to protect the venue’s relationship with their neighbours – working with specific volume levels between defined times – but the added benefit of them is that you and your guests can go home without your ears ringing!

We regularly work with sound limiters and they’re really not a problem to work with if you know what you’re doing and have the right approach – and there’s never any complaints about being too quiet!

In situations with more stringent limiters, we can use electric drum kits which gives us much greater control over the overall volume.  We’re very comfortable with using in-house systems where present, and give you a no-cut-off guarantee!

Weddings have a lot of moving parts and are famous for delays accruing throughout the day.  Things like group photos taking more time, people enjoying themselves and not taking their seats for the wedding breakfast on time, food service being slow, extended time taken before the dance floor is clear of tables… and much more!  There are so many things that can push back the start of the entertainment, but we have you covered…

• We accommodate these delays with military-like resourcefulness and focus.
• If we can’t set up at our pre-arranged time (for example if the meal overruns and tables are in the way), we can get the critical parts of our speaker system in place so that we can get party music straight away while we work with the in-house team to turn around the venue into the party place to be!
• We can get everything loaded-in and plugged in within 45minutes – all the lights, speaker system, DJ equipment, musical instruments… this is RAPID!  The DJ will get going first and get the party going within minutes, and the other boys won’t be far behind… a quick trip to the bar for you and we’re ready to go!
• We would ordinarily plan to play 2 x 1hr sets, but there are lots of reasons why this might need to change on the night – we think of ourselves as the sponge that soaks up the delays and gets you back on track!  We are flexible according to your needs.  We adapt our set lengths to accommodate overrunning – in some cases we can play all our sets straight through, or we might suggest a shorter 30mins set and a 90mins set to be sure all of the other elements of your day can take place as required.   Either way, whatever happens, we’re going to make sure you get 100% of the music and have the party you’ve dreamed of and deserve!

We go out of our way to check with your photographer that they’re happy with the party lighting for this critical moment.  We know they are the experts at getting the best shots to remember your day forever, and we work with them to remove any lights or colours that may compromise those shots.  It’s a small thing, but it makes a big difference – even if we’re not in those photos, we’ve played a role in making sure they’re as perfect as they can be.

If you would prefer not to have a first dance – no problem!  If you’d like one but want everyone to join you on the dance floor ASAP, we’ve got you covered.  We understand this level of focus is not for everyone so we’ll look after you and encourage your friends to join you when you want them to.

Equally, we can learn your specific arrangement of your favourite song to accompany you seamlessly if you have a special surprise dance planned!

We also learn Father/Daughter and Mother/Son (or any other combination!) of dances!  Just let us know and we’ll coordinate this for you.

Most bands will only have a list of 30 songs they will play in an evening – disregarding the age and the interests of the guests!  This is the wrong approach.

Getting a set list right is like threading a needle because you have to take into account the following…

• The set duration
• The number of sets
• The start time of both sets
• The end time of the last set and if it’s the end of the evening at that point or if the DJ continues afterwards
• The age and musical interests of the guests
• How soon after food we’re starting
• What time the cake cutting is
• What time the wedding breakfast is
• What time the first dance is, and what the song is
• Whether there are any speeches, sparklers, or other moments to accommodate
• What the start time of the day was (these can be LONG days, so we need to be cognisant of guests flagging towards the end of the night).
• Whether there’s a group of people who favour a particular genre of music
• and much more…

We do all this whilst building the night to a huge climax so you finish the night with the best memories!

All of these elements need constant consideration throughout the night as they will all influence what songs we play, and when we play them in order to give you the best time.  Sometimes it will mean we play them in a more relaxed fashion (where we’re required to be more background or in the early part of an evening), or we might extend songs where you and your guests are really loving it!  It’s a super-dynamic environment, and we are incessantly adjusting our set to optimise it, whatever the environment.
